Mike Paluska:    Mike is a studio potter. He makes his own glazes and fires all of his work at his studio in Oklahoma City. He began taking pottery lessons as a hobby in 1999. His professional training has come from workshops with noted potters, including Tom Coleman and Steven Hill. He also attended an extensive workshop at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina.

Starting in 2003, he has participated in many juried shows and festivals across Oklahoma, and has received numerous awards. Besides exhibiting his one-of-a-kind work at 50 Penn Place Art Gallery, his gardenware can be seen at Wilshire Garden Market.

Mike is currently a pottery instructor at Oklahoma City’s City Arts Center.

There are many aspects that influence his work. All of his corporate life has been as a Mechanical Engineer. He has always enjoyed working with his hands. Business trips to Japan have introduced a strong Asian influence into his ceramic work. Many of his works reflect the Japanese culture, as seen in their ceramic art, their gardens, and even how their food is prepared and served.

Mike was born in Waukegan, Illinois. He came to Oklahoma City in 1969. He and his wife, Dotty, have been married since 1971.
